I am a highly intuitive and effective licensed therapist and psychotherapist having worked collaboratively with clients in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, family and individual counselling and more in private practice, as well have also been involved with management of a pro bono clinic with Robert S Wright (http://robertswright.ca/) out of Halifax, NS. My wide focus in training in humanistic, CBT, and psychoanalytic treatment approaches along with extensive experience with clients over the years who have suffered extreme to minor trauma, addictions, mood disorders, marital issues, and more, enables me to help clients with varied and complex psychological, behavioral, and emotional issues. I wish to offer you my warmest regards and to establish a safe and empathetic environment for your employees to feel comfortable enough for open exploration of personal story required to improve awareness of underlined hidden issues and difficulties. Improvement of your self-awareness is a key factor to help in the assessment and goals towards individualized therapy. Treatment approaches are primarily use of CBT and psychodynamic approaches, as well as a combination of mindfulness and acceptance and commitment therapy. This includes a thorough understanding of how individual social settings and work environments affect personal views and perspectives, as well as influence of upbringing & childhood development that can affect some or all current relationships, and job-related performance. Therapy is highly individualized to suit your needs, including assessment of current levels of coping strategies, your supports, strengths, and needs. Consideration of a holistic viewpoint is taken into account such as psychological, biological, and social influences on your current levels of mental health and wellbeing. Treatment approaches with couples and families, including teens, can be focused on discovering and resolving possible underlined issues of trust and attachment, as well as issues with boundaries and personal responsibility, individuation, and communication, and thus helping clients to strengthen bonds. Much of my work also focuses on helping clients to formulate personal mental health goals from her of his own perspective, as well as specializing in couples and marriage counselling, teen counselling, addictions counselling, trauma focused therapy, treatment of mood disorders and interrelation related disorders, and general counselling therapy. My professional affiliations and licensing are as follows: Professional Membership and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) # 10002561 Professional Membership and Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT-C) designation with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists (NSCCT) # RCT-C17-032

I returned to school while facilitating a children's therapeutic home, taking several courses focused on special needs and mental health. I adopted one of the children in my therapeutic home, he has autism. I graduated with a diploma in psychology and counselling. I also took the Autism Intervenor Levels 1&2, and worked in Ontario as a BC. I facilitated a group social skills and recreation program( SNAP) , a mental heath drop in program, a vocational rehab program, a men's depression group, a teen support group and a parent training ( 15 week training course for managing high behavior). I use a person centered approach which is child lead. My programs are strength based focusing on passions and interests. I use RDI, and TBRI. My feeling is families need to understand their child, be supported with knowledge and given the tools necessary to best support their child to the Child's potential. I offer individual and group counselling, support with accessing funding, behavior support , social thinking skill building and family counselling. I also offer grief counselling, couple counselling, addictions counselling and support for those with depression, low self worth, trauma and help with vocational rehab and life skills. Accessing funding for your child or youth helps put a plan in place for much needed therapy. I can help with funding applications! Building trust is most important in a therapeutic counselling relationship. I will offer support in working towards your goals. Jaime Halan-Harris RPC, BC, RCSS Member of CPCA, VRA
